  • (19.11) No.1251 – Vitaly Medintsev (hs#3,5). The black Queen smartly intercepts the roles of Bishop/Rook.
  • (19.11) No.1250 – Mario Parrinello & Ofer Comay (h#2; Sirene; Neutral Sirene; Nightrider-Locust). “…inspired by Mario’s 8th Prize in StrateGems 2015… shows similar mates like in the original problem, but the strategy is different.” (Ofer Comay)

The Judge of JF fairy tournament 10/2017-03/2018

After a long time… the one who was the first judge ever of JF’s fairy tournament, had to analyze about 200 fairy problems and finished the Award in a year after competition, is kindly accepting this job again! I’m very glad to announce the judge of current fairy tournament, JF-10/2017-03/2018 – famous Indian composer, International Master of FIDE – Shankar Ram! To the words I’ve written about Shankar in 2012, he’s added the following: 

  • From 2012, Got back to composing, judging, article writing, getting in touch with chess problem friends
  • Current interest: Acquiring new gadgets and porting Popeye to them!

  • (28.10) No.1245.1-5 – Andreas Thoma (-N/#1; Proca Retractor; Anticirce Cheylan). A selection (PDF) of 5 Proca Retractors with Anticirce Cheylan condition with the same idea. For the competition I’ve assigned numbers to original problems from No.1245.1 to 1245.5.
  • (22.06) No.1244.1-15 – Andreas Thoma (-N/#1; Proca Retractor; Anticirce Cheylan). A selection (PDF) of 15 Proca Retractors with Anticirce Cheylan condition, each using not more than 4 pieces on the board was presented by Andreas and published on 22.06.2017. For the competition I’ve assigned numbers to original problems from No.1244.1 to 1244.15.
  • (28.10) No.1146.1 – Paul Rãican (PG 17; Masand). The version to No.1146, published after the end of tournament but before the award is made, accepted by the judge of PG/Retros 2015-16 Thomas Brand.
