Nice to see Israel on the site again! This time warm welcome to Michael Grushko

No.111 -hs#8  –  Surprising mates by the black Bishop. (JV)

No.112 -h#4  –  Nice demonstration of specific neutral promotions. (JV)

Grasshopper(G): Moves along Q-lines over another unit of either color to the square immediately beyond that unit. A capture may be made on arrival, but the hurdle is not affected.

Maximummer: Black must play the geometrically longst move or may choose from among longest moves of equal length, distances being measured from the center of each square. Diagonal and oblique distances are measured from the orthogonal coordinates by using Pythagora’s theorem (take the square root of the sum of the squares of the orthogonal distances). All other orthodox chess rules apply.

KoKo: A move is possible only if the piece moved arrives on a square next to another unit.

Anti CirceantiCirce Calvet (the default type): After a capture the capturing piece (Ks included) must immediately be removed to its game array square (necessarily vacant, else the capture is illegal). Captures on the rebirth square are allowed. Game array squares are determined as in Circe. antiCirce Cheylan: As antiCirce Calvet except that captures on the rebirth square are not allowed.

Circe Parrain – After a capture, the captured piece is reborn only after another piece of its own side has moved. The line between capturing square and rebirth square is parallel with and of same direction and length as the move of this other piece. Pawns can be reborn on 1st and 8th rank. From their own base rank, they may move one-step; if reborn on the promotion rank, the Pawn at once promotes, the promotion piece being determined by the Pawn side.
