Interesting presentation in Duplex. Good idea !

  2. Seetharamanseetharaman says:

Since both BQb1 & WQg8 cannot move (as they are not threatened), can they threaten the opposing piece(s) ? 🙂

    • Kjell Widlert says:

The term “observed” is actually better than “threatened”.

In Functionary Chess (Beamtenschach to the Germans), a piece that is not observed by a piece from the opposite side cannot move – but it can still observe!

  3. Michael Grushko says:

    W Kc5, Rg8, Pb2, Pc4 (4)
    B Kd7, Rb1, Bc7, Pe6, Pe7, Pg7 (6)
    h#5 Duplex (4+6)
    Functionary chess
    C+

  4. Paz says:

This version doesn’t seem to work. In the W to play part there is always 6.Kb4 or Kb5 that cut off the observation of the rooks.
