No.1007 Nicolas Dupont France original – 18.02.2016 Solution: (click to show/hide) white Bf1c1 Ke1 Qd1 Ph2g2f2e2d2c2b2a2 Sg1b1 Rh1a1 black Bf8c8 Ke8 Qd8 Ph7g7f7e7d7c7b7a7 Sg8b8 Rh8a8 PG 9.5                            (16+16)   C- Castling Chess 1.e2-e4 e7-e5 2.Qd1-h5 Ke8-e6[bPe5->e7] 3.Qh5-a5 g7-g5 { } 4.Bf1-b5 Ke6-e5 5.Ke1-e3[wPe4->e2] Ke5-g7[bRh8->f6] { } 6.d2-d4 Sg8-h6 7.Ke3-d2 Kg7-g8 8.Kd2-d1 Kg8-g6[bPg5->g7] { } 9.Bc1-e3 Sh6-g8 10.Kd1-d3[wPd4->d2] {dia} This proof game shows intensive use of the condition (5 fairy castlings) to allow some Riders to develop, while the full Pawn structure remains intact in the diagram position. As bonuses, note the switchback from Sg8 and the “castling-like” sixth row! According to WinChloe, this is the very first proof game with the Castling condition. It is only C+ (Popeye 4.73) from the beginning to move 6.0, and from move 4.0 to the end. This obviously tells nothing about the full correctness, but implies at least that the (expected unique) solution is legal. (Author)

1. Julia says:

A slight correction is made on the diagram position and in the solution by author’s request: Bf4->Be3 (9.Be3).

2. dupont says:

Thanks Julia! Indeed the diagram position seems more harmonious now…
