No.909 by Stephen Emmerson – Nice similar solutions in PG with a change of fairy condition in the twin!

A new look of animated solutions uses functions written by Stephen Emmerson. I invite those who loves PG problems to comment if such presentation is convenient. I believe it is very nice! Try to click “***“, “·“, “a)” and “b)” to see the functionality better. For me it was a great pleasure to work with Stephen! (JV)

Definitions:

Back-to-Back: When pieces of opposite colors stand back-to-back with each other on the same file (white piece is on the top of black!), they exchange their roles. A pawn on the first rank cannot move. Any piece can make an en passant capture when it has got a role of Pawn by Back-To-Back.

Plus Chess: A piece X standing on one of the central four squares de45 can move or capture as normal, but in addition can capture as if it was standing on any of the other central squares which is vacant, e.g. wSd5 can capture on g6 if e5 is vacant. Pawns and Kings included.

The additions to the animated-diagram function are convenient indeed. The possibility to click on “a)” or “b)” is useful in all twins, and the possibility to click on “.” is useful in proofgames.

  2. GanapathiGanapathi says:

Animation working very helpfully for PGs

This is a very nice idea… Different white knight tours and cycle of black moves! Great find!
