This time I’ve a pleasure to present you a joint problem by two authors – S.K.Balasubramanian and Vlaicu Crișan (first publication on juliasfairies.com). Warm welcome to Vlaicu Crișan – the most famous Romanian master of composition, multiple winner in competitions of the highest rank!

Definition:

PAO(PA): Moves as Rook, but captures only by hopping over a hurdle to any square beyond.

VAO(VA): Moves as Bishop, but captures only by hopping over a hurdle to any square beyond.

Lion(Li): Moves along Q-lines over another unit of either color to any square beyond that unit. A capture may be made on arrival, but the hurdle is not affected.

Excellent! Amazing and probably original play of the white Leos, going up and down! This is one of the best published so far by them and one of the best on this site !
