No.145 – hs#3*  by Julia Vysotska My lovely Chameleons again, but this time with Anti-Andernach condition. (JV)


Definitions:

Chameleon: On completing a move, a Chameleon (from classical standard type) changes into another piece, in the sequence Q-S-B-R-Q…  Promotion may be to a chameleon at any stage in the cycle.

Anti-Andernach Chess: a unit (not King) changes color after its moves unless that move is a capture. (Or: a unit (King excluded) changes color on completion of a non-capturing move.)

Very nice. Surprising mutual battery formation by white! (Initially I thought there might be white halfpin, then realised there is no way to realise it in this setting). Can it be done without those captures ?

You are right Julia! My question was in effect whether Anti Andernach is essential for the mechanism of the problem. Forming the white mutual batteries and firing them uses the Chameleon effect mainly.
