Equipollents AntiCirce
Equipollents AntiCirce
Solution: (click to show/hide)
The B1 moves prevent capture of the mating piece, although a slight difference is that 1.Bc4 prevents capture by the pawn (not the unpinned rook). The W1 moves are thematic unpins, making use of the clever twinning. There are pin-mates, although the pins already exist in the initial position. The avoided moves Rc5-c6?? and Rf4-f5?? actually occur in the other solution (as self-blocks), which is a very pleasing feature.
Correction: In (b), 2.Rd6 is not a self-block, which is another slight difference.
2.Rd6 is a square-obstruction for the bQ (3.Qxd5>d6??), which is almost the same as a self-block – just not for the king.
A wonderful twin presentation of Equipollents Anticirce!
