Grasshopper(G): Moves along Q-lines over another unit of either color to the square immediately beyond that unit. A capture may be made on arrival, but the hurdle is not affected.
Gnu (GN) : Knight + (1,3) Leaper

Sébastien most probably meant direct mate when he had labelled this as probably the longest problem with gnu. With another stipulation it is already much longer, e.g.:
