Annan Chess: If two pieces of the same side are standing close to each other in N-S-direction, the front piece moves only like the rear piece as long as the contact exists. The front piece is that piece that is nearer to the own promotion rank. The rear piece transfers only his kind of moving, but no characters like magic, paralyzing, royal, ability to promote etc. Pawns may enter the rank of their own officers; there they cannot move, but still give their power to a front piece. Officers, making a douple step with the power of a Pawn, cannot be captured en-passant; Pawns can only be captured en-passant, when they make a double step with the power of a Pawn, but not if they make a double step with the power of another piece (e.g. Rook or Queen). Officers with the power of a Pawn may capture en-passant. If three or more pieces are in orthogonal contact, each piece moves only like the piece that is directly behind. Example: wPe2, wRe3, wBe4; wPe2 moves like a wPe2, wRe3 moves like a wPe3, wBe4 moves like a wRe4.

Interchange of white Bishops vs color-change of black Bishops.
The main motivation for the interchange is that Sb8 must be home-captured at
move 5 (there is no black spare move and 7 black moves occur after the
capture of Sb8), and that only the Bf1 can do that safely.
The main motivation for the color-change is that Bc8 can’t reach square a2 in 2
moves, as Bc8-e6 must be played before 0-0-0, hence before e7-e5 (as Pe7 is
just beyond Ke8), but in that case Be6-a2 is annan-illegal. (Author)
