Wheeew…!
Another block buster from the grrrraaand master..
Cyclic third pin on 2nd rank with 2 of the 3 black pieces pinned..
Cyclic indirect battery on c4.. 2 of the squares a5/b5/c5 are guarded each time and the remaining square is blocked by the wR..
In each twin, all the black moves are made by the same fairy piece – Leo/Rao/Pao.. and what a trek! Sweeping up to allow the wKL to move to the 2nd rank.. then down to the 1st rank to activate the wKLh1 and guard a1/b1.. then up again to c4 for the direct/indirect anti-battery mate..
The white moves are also unified across the twins: 1st move by the KL to the 2nd rank to pin 2 of the 3 thematic pieces (bSb2 also pinned) and 2nd move by the wR to fire the e6-a2 battery and block one of the 3 wK flights a/b/c5..
Wonderful white economy.. topped by model mates – the cherry..
truly a luscious birthday treat for Julia.. I can almost taste it..

Everything proceeds smoothly like a well oiled machine..
There is a slight feeling that ordinary lions could have been used instead of KLs.. but i’m sure the GM had his reasons for this..

The black indirect anti-batteries on c4 could perhaps be called a “chinese triple anti-grimshaw”..!
A view of the lines and squares involved..
