No.620 by Peter Harris – The only neutral Royal piece is on the board! How it can be mated? (JV)
Definitions:
Sentinels Pion neutre: When a piece (Pawn excluded) leaves a square outside the first and last rows, a white piece leaves a wP, a black piece leaves a bP and a neutral piece leaves a nP unless 8 Pawns of that color are already on the board.
Royal piece: Piece that executes a function of the King on the board.

Peter Haris has always innovative ideas for his problems. This one is exceptionally good to conceive the imagination that a single piece on the board can be mated. As usual even with single piece his problem is not so easy to solve. Hats off to Peter!
In case it escapes notice I should have remarked that without a P on e6 there is no mate.
Yes, that is a hidden beauty of your problem.
In fact I tried to find if there is any cook and I could see that without Pe6 the Pe7 can defend by Pe7-e6.
