No Original problems in 2024

No Original problems in 2024

Dear composers, I have to apologize to all of you –

no publications of Original problems JF-2024

I regret about it too, for a long time during this year I was hoping that it is just delayed, but the reality is different. After half a year (and especially most of the summer) spent on the Congress in Jurmala, I had to jump into the process of implementation of a new ERP in my company, which unluckily started the same summer. Working overtimes daily since August, with a long working days and half of weekends too, and it might last for few months more. My short free time I need to spend away from the computer.

Please, those of you who sent me your original problems to publish, feel free to send it to another magazines (I will also send you private emails). I hope, the situation will change by the beginning of the next year. – Julia

This is a sad but totally expected decision. You deserve a rest, Julia, after the wonderful congress – if implementing SAP (or some similar system) can be called “rest”…
I sincerely hope you will find time and energy to restart this wonderful site next year!

In 2006, when my organisation implemented ERP (Oracle EBS), the “go-live”(as it’s called) was delayed for about 6 months. And even after that, we needed more than a year to stabilise. Maybe things are improved nowadays. And ours was a manufacturing company and its processes are more complicated than that of an IT company(like Julia’s).
Wishing Julia good luck and, a speedy and successful result!

Thanks for all your heroic work, Julia; completely understand the situation – I am happy to have escaped from SAP myself.
James Quah, Anirudh Daga & myself are committed to publish Issue 8 of The Hopper Magazine before the end of 2024, to allow problems to be eligible for WCCI & FIDE Album. We would be honoured if composers from the Julia’s Fairies community consider us as an alternative channel for publication.
The Hopper Magazine also offers four informal tourneys for Ortho/Fairy x Forward/Retro categories. The remaining judgements from 2021-2022 will be published in Issue 8, which is also the last entry point for our 2023-2024 tourneys.
Please contact us at thehoppermagazine@gmail.com.
Thanks for your time.
