No.533 by Sébastien Luce – А difficult four-men with exotic fairy Bishops! Here I’d like to mention two important things: Fairy Bishop (fou féérique) exists in WinChloé only; in WinChloé Circe has always the priority to Take&Make! (JV)
Definitions:
Circe: Captured units (not Ks) reappear on their game-array squares, of the same colour in the case of pieces, on the file of capture in the case of pawns, and on the promotion square of the file of capture in the case of fairy pieces. If the rebirth square is occupied the capture is normal.
Take & Make: Having captured, a unit must immediately, as part of its move, play a non-capturing move in imitation of the captured unit from the capture-square. If no such move is available, the capture is illegal. Promotion by capture occurs only when a pawn arrives on the promotion rank as the result of a take&make move. Checks are as in normal chess: after the notional capture of the checked K, the checking unit does not move away from the King’s square.
Fairy Bishop (Bf): (WinChloe only) Moves like normal Bishop, reborns like fairy piece.

Take & Make Circé Fairy Bishops: c6, h3 (WinChloe) Solutions: (click to show/hide)

The problem can be checked by Popeye, because the “Fairy Bishop” is also what is called a Fers-Rider (FR for Popeye).
In this case, with black Fers-Rider h3 and neutral Fers-Rider c6, Popeye 4.65 finds the intended solutions:
a)
1.Kb6*c6-h1[+nFRc8] nFRc8-b7 + 2.FRh3-g2 nFRb7*g2-a8[+bFRg1] #
b) bFRh3–>g4
1.Kb6*c6-a8[+nFRc8] nFRc8*g4-h3[+bFRg1] 2.FRg1-a7 Kg3*h3-c8[+nFRh1] #
I like this dynamic echo! The only weak åpoint is the repetition of Kxc6(nfBc8), but at least the T&M part of the move is quite different.
Thank you Kjell for your comment !
In two moves, I didn’t find a way to avoid repetition of Kxc6 :- (
