I’m very pleased to welcome at the site world-known French composer, GM Jean-Marc Loustau! Please see 2 nice direct mate problems where thematic mates are given by one and the same unit:
No.119 – #2 – A super thematic activity of white LEOg4 ! (JV)
No.120 – #2 – This thematic mechanism is analogical to No.119 but with a different alphabetical “formula”. (JV)
Definitions:
LEO(LE): Moves as Queen, but captures only by hopping over a hurdle to any square beyond.
PAO(PA): Moves as Rook, but captures only by hopping over a hurdle to any square beyond.
VAO(VA): Moves as Bishop, but captures only by hopping over a hurdle to any square beyond.

119 and 120: These two are superb problems showing the Cyclone Theme. The more I look at them, more I like them. Well done Jean-Marc Loustau.

Yes Shankar ram ! 120 reminds me of your 3rd WCCT First place showing the same theme (with Chinese pieces 🙂 ) in combination with black correction !
But I believe these two will figure in top list of any other Judge too !!

Narayan: Sure, you know these themes! Cyclone contains almost 40 problems by you, about half of them being Ukrainian!!!
