No.150 – hs#3 by Petko A. Petkov – A very surprising play of black Chameleons as forward battery-pieces! (JV)
No.151 – hs#3,5 by Petko A. Petkov – A Meredith with rich content! (JV)
Definitions:
Chameleon: On completing a move, a Chameleon (from classical standard type) changes into another piece, in the sequence Q-S-B-R-Q… Promotion may be to a chameleon at any stage in the cycle.
Anti-Andernach Chess: a unit (not King) changes color after its moves unless that move is a capture. (Or: a unit (King excluded) changes color on completion of a non-capturing move.)
Grasshopper(G): Moves along Q-lines over another unit of either color to the square immediately beyond that unit. A capture may be made on arrival, but the hurdle is not affected.
PAO(PA): Moves as Rook, but captures only by hopping over a hurdle to any square beyond.

Can’t help submitting my humble appreciation of Petkov’s 151-
the exact matching of Black Grasshopper’s final positioning on the correct diagonal to deliver mate after White’s successive Bristol operations on the h-file!
While 151 is crystal clear, N.150 is complex and the play is full of Chameleon and Anti-Andernach effects ! It is not easy to grasp that with so many white pieces hanging around attacking the seventh rank it is mate !! Great problem !
Forgot to mention that the diagram needs correction to mention that WRe8 is chameleon
Ram, sorry, but the diagram is correct. It was a simple Re8 in the original problem, and there’s no need to make that technical piece a Chameleon-piece. Or have I misunderstood you?
You are right! Sorry!
