No.948, 949 by Erich Bartel – Serial problems with Ortho+fairy AUW in No.948 and Valladao in No.949. (JV)
Definitions:
Alphabetic Chess: The squares are considered in the order a1, a2…a8, b1…b8, c1 and so on to h8. At each turn, only the unit standing on the square which comes earliest in this order may move. However check and mate are normal.
Madrasi: Units, other than Kings, are paralysed when they attack each other. Paralysed units cannot move, capture or give check, their only power being that of causing paralysis.
Madrasi RI (rex inclusive): the rule applies to Kings as well, so the two Kings may stand next to each other.
Anti-Circe (Anti-Circe Calvet (the default type)): After a capture the capturing piece (Ks included) must immediately be removed to its game array square (necessarily vacant, else the capture is illegal). Captures on the rebirth square are allowed. Game array squares are determined as in Circe.
Circe: Captured units (not Ks) reappear on their game-array squares, of the same colour in the case of pieces, on the file of capture in the case of pawns, and on the promotion square of the file of capture in the case of fairy pieces. If the rebirth square is occupied the capture is normal.
Nightrider(N): Operates along straight lines with squares lying a Knight’s move away from each other.
Antelope(AN): (3,4) Leaper.
Lion(LI): Moves along Queen lines over another unit of either color to any square beyond that unit. A capture may be made on arrival, but the hurdle is not affected.
Root-50-leaper(RF): (1,7 or 5,5) Leaper – moves by the diagonal of a rectangle whose length is equal to the square root of 50.
Grasshopper(G): Moves along Q-lines over another unit of either color to the square immediately beyond that unit. A capture may be made on arrival, but the hurdle is not affected.

It is C+ Winchloe !
Please Julia indicate when the problems are C+ Winchloe !
🙂
The white castling doesn’t happen in the diagram By Py2Web, instead black Knight is moving from e8 to g8.
That is in 949
Thank you, Kenneth! Animation for castling is corrected!
948: This combination of 8 promotions and a (more or less) horizontal K-walk seems very natural in ABC – but it is probably a new idea. Perhaps one could imagine a more subtle motivation than this Madrasi double-stalemate?
949: The arrival of both en-passant pawn and castling by AntiCirce transport before the thematic Valladao moves is a valuable extension of the theme. Of course the promoting P also arrives to the right square before the thematic move, but that doesn’t require anything unusual in the play.
