Chameleon Chess: All pieces on the board which are displayed as orthodox Q, R, B, S, are Chameleons. A Pawn can promote only in Chameleon-pieces. (Chameleon: On completing a move, a Chameleon (from classical standard type) changes into another piece, in the sequence Q-S-B-R-Q… Promotion may be to a chameleon at any stage in the cycle).
Circe Chameleon: When a piece is captured it transforms according to the scheme S>B>R>Q>S, then it is replaced on its Circerebirth square (game-array squares, of the same colour in the case of pieces, the file of capture in the case of pawns, the promotion square of the file of capture in the case of fairy pieces.).
Isardam: Any move, including capture of the King, is Isardam illegal if a Madrasi-type paralysis would result from it. (Madrasi: Units, other than Kings, are paralysed when they attack each other. Paralysed units cannot move, capture or give check, their only power being that of causing paralysis.)

No solution on Winchloe 🙁
Dear Sebastien,
It is good that you are an avid supporter of WinChloe – it being the wonderful creation it is.
[WinChloe often gives an alternative view. How would the world be if there were no alternative views? – very dull].
But you must keep a level head about it.
It serves little purpose simply to post that WinChloe gives no solution or a hundred solutions – followed by a pictogram. [I guess the pictogram could be made a glum one or a smiling one!].
For everyone’s edification you should, if you can, give an explanation as to why WinChloe gives answers different from Popeye’s. This would serve a purpose.
Harkening back to your advice to me that I should check my problems with WinChloe: using this problem as an example: what would have been the point of me checking it with WinChloe?
I am quite happy that it is C+ with Popeye.
That is not to say I am not curious to learn the “alternative view”.
Dear Peter,
In my opinion, if you want to use a lot of fairy conditions together in your problems, (3 it is ok Peter, but not more !)
you should be carefull that there is no conflict between these conditions, also that the program manage these combination of conditions correctly.
The best for you is to ask Christian Poisson about the reason why there is no solution to your problem. He is allways ready to give you the answer (very quickly). This is not the case with Popeye programmer when there is a bug.
Best
Sebastien
what I want to say, it
Actually WinChloe is able to find the solutions:
1…CAç2(F) 2.a2 CAa1(T) 3.CA×a1(C)(CA(D)d1) CA×d2(C)(CA(D)d8) 4.CAh8(C) CAb3(F)=
1…CAb3(F) 2.CA×b2(C)(CA(T)a1) CA×a3(D)(a7) 3.CAd8(D) CA×a7(C) 4.CAb8(C) CAb5(F)=
Maybe your mistake is to left orthodox pieces on the diagram position Sébastien – you should instead input fairy pieces Caméléon (Q, R, B or S).
Maybe you are right Nicolas ! Thank you !
I register a lot of problems for Winchloe database in particular all the problems of Julia’s Fairies and I forgot to indicate Cameleons.
So it must be C+ Winchloe !
So, sorry Peter for the pictogram 🙁 for this problem, but my comment remains the same : 3 fairy conditions together maximum usually and please check your problems with Winchloe !
All the chess commununity is well happy to use Winchloe database and to find the problems published on Julia’s Fairies.
Best to all
Sebastien
With all due respect, Sebastien, all the chess community did not nominate you to speak on their behalf.
I know of only 3 russian composers who have the Winchloe (myself included) and of tens who don’t.
Dear Dmitri,
some composers think that Winchloe is expensive and this is the main reason they don’t buy it.
When I bought it, it was also my feeling, but now, when I see all the advantages offered by the program I think it is very cheap !
But I can understand that some people think differently in other countries.
To come back to your comment, even the composers who don’t use the program to test the problems, use the Chess Database because it is the reference :
more than 600 000 problems !
I know that because some composers asked me to make a search in the Chess Database for them.
It is very usefull to know what was done, what was anticiped, what is to be done. It is also a great help when you want to write articles because you can export easily diagrams and solutions.
Best
Sebastien
Dear Peter,
in your problem, the final paralysis of the two black Cameleons-Knight is very nice ! 🙂
Congratulations !
Sebastien
Sebastien:
I am writing this to help you get your thinking right.
For a second time you write advising me to check my problems with WinChloe – followed by an exclamation mark.
I use Popeye and my problems are C+. Why should I check my problem with WinChloe?
If you made a problem using WinChloe and it was C+, I would not suggest that you to check it with Popeye.
I know nothing about WinChloe but following the conversation between Dmitri and you, I am wondering whether the WinChloe program and the WinChloe database could be treated separately whereby one could subscribe to either one or to both – each with its own cost. There made be many who are happy with Popeye but would like to access and subscribe to the Database. Perhaps you could ask Christian.
Dear Peter,
on the first point it is true that Popeye is faster to test some problems like hs#n/hs=n or h=n/h==n.
But for the rest, in particular for the richness and the number of fairy conditions & fairy pieces, there is absolutely no comparison. Winchloe proposes a much larg and better choice.
For the detail, please contact C.Poisson
In your case you should be interested as you like to work new fairy conditions.
My experience told me also that Popeye has clear bugs especially when you combine different conditions.
It is sometimes the case in Winchloe but Christian Poisson is working each day very deeply on his program because it is his work.
On the third point, I regret but it is not possible to buy only the database of Winchloe without the program. But note that the program allows to search any kind of problem if you indicate some pieces present on the board on fairy condition or piece(s)
It is only some of the advantages of the program. I am really honest when I tell you I discover new things every day on it even if I spent a long time with it.
I hope it will convince you to buy the program because I think you spent the same time on chess composition than me !
Best
Sebastien
There is a much cheaper version of WinChloe called “WinChloe Light” that gives database access only. I have no commercial interest in WinChloe, but give the following information from the WinChloe website:
“WinChloe light allows only to browse the main Database, using eventually filters and queries like in WinChloe. But it is not possible to record nor to solve problems. And the interface is only in French (help in English). WinChloe costs 200 Euros. WinChloe light costs 40 Euros.”
Thank you Geof for this information.
I precise I also have no commercial interest in Winchloe ! 🙂
