Interesting problem, but it is not an Albino !
An Albino is the four different moves of the SAME Pawn on its first rank.
You are right sir. Call it pseudo-albino…
We Italians (from Rome), in such cases, use to say: “Sta’ a guardà ‘r capello”. It’s a “quasi-Albino”, ok, and it is wonderful 🙂
Dear Giuseppe Lucchesini,
in french we say : “appelons un chat, un chat !”
Do you think the following position is an Albino ?
White : Kh8h6 Ph7b2ç2f2h2 Black : Sa3d3 Ph5a4d4f4
ser-=4 ABC 1.b×a3 2.ç×d3 3.f3 4.h4=
Here are some examples of fairy white Albino published in Julia’s Fairies :
diags 725, 742, 752, 803 ….
But the problem of M.Ali Okan Pandar, “in the spirit of Albino theme” is interesting.
The problem has a lovely idea, much better than an Albino!
Please Geoff, don’t compare problems of different nature ! 🙂
Leaving aside arguments about thematic validity, the idea is no doubt interesting. I seem to remember something like it was done before using Circe or a Circe variant. Here’s a recent one for comparison, from StrateGems, 2020:
a) 1.c3-b3 Sf3 2.Kg6 Se5 #
b) 1.c3-b4 Sf4 2.Kg5 Se6 #
c) 1.Kd6 Sxg3 2.b6-d5 Sf5#
d) 1.d7-d6 Sxe3 2.d6-f5 Sd5#
Is this a “true” WP4? (I’m avoiding the term which, along with its counterpart was the subject of a recent matplus forum discussion!)
Thank you M.Shankar Ram, to show diag.FA1852 of Stratagems. This time you can compare with diag.1661 of JF, as it is similar. But I prefer the problem of M.Ali Okan Pandar as it is WITHOUT TWINS, a important nuance.
I can’t really understand why it would not be an Albino.
It is a nice, clear, and original Albino.
@Shankar Ram
ok, wp4 is better, but hard to change habits!
