No.615 & 616 by Oliver Sick – Two miniatures representing Annan Chess with neutral pieces: ANI-solutions in the first one, and an active play of the black King in the second one! Your feedback on the problems is welcomed by author!
I’d like to mention also that Annan Chess with neutral pieces is the theme of Arnold Beine 60 JT. So, we have a nice examples to learn from! (JV)
Definitions:
Annan Chess: If two pieces of the same colour are standing close to each other in N-S-direction, the front piece moves only like the rear piece as long as the contact is existing. The front piece is that piece that is closer to the own promotion line. White/Black Pawns on the 1st/8th rank cannot move, but can give their kind of moving to a front piece. Officers moving with the power of a Pawn to the promotion line do not promote; if they make a double-step with the power of a Pawn, they cannot be captured en-passant; but officers with the power of a Pawn can capture a Pawn en-passant.
MOA(MO): The Chinese knight, which is a Rider, moving along a bent line to the arrival square of a normal Knight, first diagonally then orthogonally. The MOA can be interfered with on the intervening square.

I like thematic and specific for Annan Chess final positions in No.615:
(1) On the white move the both neutrals in the pair Pc4/Sc3 have an S-role, so all squares around the bK are guarded; on the black move these both neutrals have a pawn’s role, so Pc4 is blocked by Sc3, but the move Sc3-c2 would give an illegal self-check.
(2) On the white move the both neutrals in the pair Pd3/Qd2 have a Q-role, so all squares around the bK are guarded; on the black move these both neutrals have a pawn’s role, so Pd3 is blocked by Qd2, but the move Qd2-d1 would give an illegal self-check.
