Not the first time in Meredith…

A nice problem and zugzwang finale. Only criticism would be the two islands of pieces do not interact with each other, although the move order forcing is good.

…und dazu noch ein weiteres Stück mit 10 Steinen

Stephen and Erich!
Yes, your interesting problems – P1288043 and P1186438 – also show Valladao, but it is “mixed” Valladao (one white and two black thematic moves, or vice versa).
But I think that the “pure Valladao” (all three thematic moves is white or all is black) is little more difficult to realization than “mixed” the one…
Also you can see my another recent hs# with pure white Valladao – http://yacpdb.org/#390523

Interesting how people find different challenges in the task. Mine was to make the shortest problem not involving retro reasoning, for which the hs# form was well suited. I think Cedric Lytton used to take notes on which moves were made by White and which by Black, so it’s interesting to investigate perhaps all possible combinations. Onwards and upwards!

“Onwards and upwards!” —
Stephen, you got it all wrong. That is not Valladao, that’s Excelsior! (-:

Dear Stephen.
yet another Valladao with minimum of moves,
but here with additional Antipoden condition
and passive promotion.

Jacques Rotenberg produced three nice mixed Valladaos in miniature! ( with the Superguards condition.) See the 5th Commended. here: https://juliasfairies.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Superguards-Award.pdf
