The AWARD – JF-2013/I

June, 17th, 2013

Dear Friends,

First of all I should apologize for the delay with the Award for Julia’sFairies-2013/I! As I have written before, I’ve got it from the judge, Juraj Brabec, yet in May, but needed some time to prepare for publication. The original Award is in Russian and I’d like to thank Dmitri Turevski, who’s helped me a lot with correction of Russian terminology.

English version is not ready yet, but will be presented soon, with a help of Geoff Foster who’s so kind to help me with language corrections in many cases. For now just the introduction to the Award is translated.

My congratulations to the winners! Thanks a lot to all participants!

My gratitude to Juraj Brabec for so fast judging and so detailed and interesting comments in the Award!

I’ve decided to make updates to English version, adding each translation to the award one by one, when ready. So, now you can read comments to the 1st Prize, No.288 by Juraj Lörinc, in English! Translating this comment I’ve understood better what is going on in this problem, so I appreciate it a lot! Congratulations to Juraj!

Comments to No.225 and No.270 (2nd-3rd Prize) are translated into English!

No.288. It is indeed a delightful problem, showing a complicated pattern with impeccable logic! Studying why each white mate works (and why the other white moves do not mate !) and how black defends is a revelation. The comments of Brabec are detailed and explains clearly what is happening. Thanks Juraj for this wonderful problem and congrats on a well deserved prize !
