No.326 – Michel Caillaud & Julia Vysotska – Entertaining problem with promoted Chameleons. The problem is presented as C- as it uses a condition “Promotion to Chameleon allowed“* (not programmed yet, but planned in the next version of WinChloe) instead of adding a static Chameleon piece. Although, the problem is easy to test in WinChloe if a Chameleon piece is defined for the problem, but not presented on the board. (JV)
No.326.1 – Michel Caillaud & Julia Vysotska – Improved version to No.326 with a gratitude to commentators! (JV)
*?ondition “Promotion to Chameleon allowed” is implemented in WinChloe 3.24 – so the both problems are C+ as of 8-June-2013!
Definitions:
Chameleon: On completing a move, a Chameleon (from classical standard type) changes into another piece, in the sequence Q-S-B-R-Q… Promotion may be to a chameleon at any stage in the cycle.
Rook-Lion(RL): Moves like Lion, but on Rook-lines only.
Lion(Li): Moves along Q-lines over another unit of either color to any square beyond that unit. A capture may be made on arrival, but the hurdle is not affected.

Very nice cyclic effect. It is interesting that black has to open the second rank and again close it differently. I think the problem is sound even if c3 is not neutral. I dont know however if that is important. It is upto the experts to decide.
Indeed very nice. wRLc3 would mate on h6 but wRLb3/a3 doesn’t look so dangerous?!
Oh, yes, thanks! A good point from the both of you! Can be white RLa3/b3 and should be for the better economy!
I also like the dual avoidance on the B2 move !
