The judge of JF-2023: K. Seetharaman

Dear composers, I’m happy to announce our judge for informal fairy tournament JF-2023 – the well known Indian composer Seetharaman Kalyan! I believe everybody knew Seetharaman as one of the most active members of chess problem society. Have to mention that Seetharaman was also one of the first visitors of just created Julia’sFairies website in April 2012, the one who was always ready to comment some new publications, to support any new ideas. Currently Seetharaman is editing fairy section of The Problemist. One of his most known inventions is Super Guards fairy condition (2012; 14 problems with SuperGuards published on JF). Composes problems in all genres. Age 74.

I’m very grateful to Seetharaman for his support and his good will in doing this job for JF!

The judge of JF-2023: N/A
The judge of  Retro & PG problems 2023-2024: N/A

Dear composers, I still have no judge for both Fairy & Retro tournaments, and I’d be grateful to the one who is willing to accept this job.

If you sent me a problem, but don’t see your name in the list below, please write me! Please don’t send me more than 1 problem at one time and don’t send the next one before the previous is published! Thank you!
The order of publication might be not the same as in the waiting list: the problems easy to test and to animate, C+, and those without additional questions to composers will go first.

To be published in February-March: Klaus Wenda & Andreas Thoma, János Mikitovics, Manfred Rittirsch.

  • (19.02) No.1737 (No More Kings) – Bruno Stucker – The starting piece captures all the pieces from the board in as few moves as possible. Warm welcome to Bruno who managed to write the full notation in 5 solutions (twins) without making any mistake! So, enjoy the animation for the debut of “No More Kings” condition on JF!

The judge of Retro & PG problems 2023-2024: N/A

Dear composers, the new informal tournament, JF-2023, is opened now! I still have no judge for it, and I’d be grateful to the one who is willing to accept this job. Well, I’m thinking about no split of the year into 2 tournaments. Partly because it is very hard to find 2 judges in a year, secondly, because most probably I will not be able to publish too many problems this year.

To be published in January – February: Velmurugan Nallusamy, Armin Geister & Daniel Papack, Paul Rãican, Henri Nouguier, Michal Dragoun, Daniel Novomesky

  • (22.01) No.1730 (ep 104) – James Malcom – White forces an en passant capture to take place; C-.
  • (15.01) No.1729 (h#2 ; Breton Py) – Thomas Maeder“… The French have coined the term “Breton Py” for the way Popeye does things”(TM)
  • (15.01) No.1728 (pser-s#37) – Ľuboš Kekely“Perhaps the longest pser-s# without fairy pieces and conditions” (LK)
  • (15.01) No.1727 (h=8) – Kurt Keller. Warm welcome to Kurt with his first appearance on JF, the “Kindergarten” problem!
  • (13.01) No.1726 (ser-=14 ; Rookhopper ; PWC) – Václav Kotěšovec. This problem was dedicated to my jubilee in September 2022. Plus it was so nicely prepared for me, so much “animation-friendly”, so I feel double sorry to publish it so late, and very much grateful to Václav! (JV, Editor)

The judge of JF-2022/II: not appointed yet
The judge of Retro & PG problems 2021-2022: Thomas Brand

Dear composers, I’m very sorry for a delay in publication of your original problems! I’m involved in several projects at the moment, being a director of the youth composing competition 6.YCCC in the frames of WCCC, being in the organizing committee of WCCC 2022, including the website and registrations… plus some important updates for the WFCC website about the World Solving Cup, WCCI, WCCT.

The next days I’ll give a list of composers whom I will try to publish in September-October. But I have to say that practically up to the end of year I seem to be very much overloaded, considering preparations for the Congress, the time there, and office work upon arrival.

WFCC sanctions & JF’s originals

WFCC sanctions in reaction to hostilities in Ukraine are based on the voting result you can see on the official website. I’m glad about some of our decisions, I regret about the voting result related to 11.WCCT. And I’m very much disappointed about the ignorant behavior of some delegates who never appeared on any WFCC meeting and didn’t trouble themselves with the voting. I apologize to all composers who had trust in our organization. Please, stay patient, stay healthy, and I will try to keep JF out of politics, as a fairy garden where fairy composers are always glad to meet each other and to share their creativity.

My kid is 8. She was a troublesome student because she couldn’t stay concentrated for longer than five minutes and was not interested in studying at all. I didn’t want to medicate her, but after long considerations and consultations, I started giving https://healthylombard.com/buy-adderall/ her Adderall. The situation at school changed completely. She is now motivated and tries to do her best.

JF will continue to publish original problems by individuals from any countries. Our creativity, good will, positive emotions, support to each each other are needed to keep the peace where we can, to calm our minds and to warm our hearts.

This month JF celebrates its 10 years jubilee. Please, join me with the smile!
